Sell In May And Go Away
This old adage is thought to have originated from an old English saying, "Sell in May and go away, and come on back on St. Leger's Day." It refers to a custom of aristocrats, merchants, and bankers who would leave the city of London and escape to the country during the hot summer months. St. Leger's Day refers to the St. Leger's Stakes, a thoroughbred horse race held in mid-September.

One of The Greatest 100 Days
It's hard to imagine, but last week marked President Biden's 100th day as US President. During this time, the stock market has been quite strong, however you probably may not realise just how strong. The stock market has gained 8.6% (price only) during this time, and according to my calculations, it ranks as the third best in a President's 100 days going all the way back to 1900.

This Bull Market In Perspective
It was exactly four weeks ago which marked the one year anniversary since equity markets bottomed. Not only did the magnitude and speed of the decline scare all the kids away, the speed at which the market turned was like nothing we've seen before.

The Buffett Indicator Is Flashing Red
Elon Musk asked the CEO of Ark Invest about the Buffett indicator's unusually high ratio. The "Buffett indicator" takes the combined market capitalization of all publicly traded stocks in the US, and divides it by quarterly gross domestic product. Investors use it to gauge the stock market's valuation relative to the size of the economy. In fact, Buffett praised his namesake gauge in a Fortune magazine article in 2001, calling it "probably the best single measure of where valuations stand at any given moment." He added that when the indicator hit a record high during the dot-com bubble, that should have been a "very strong warning signal" of the crash to come.

Keeping Up With The Joneses
It's a classic conversation over dinner, drinks, and the barbeque - where you're investing your money. You hear about all the winners, the success stories, the secret tips that went wild, and how your mates mate tripled his money overnight.
